About this Go & See session

With more than 30 years, Materialise is a pioneer in the field of 3D printing. What started as a spin-off from the Catholic University of Leuven has grown into an international company with 1,500 employees. Curious about how they keep innovating at the intersection of software development and 3D printing? Find out here.

  • 17:30: Welcome
  • 17:50: Introduction - Peter Leys (Executive Chairman)
  • 18:00: A digital company in a digital transformation - Eddy Crits (CEO): 3DPrinting is by definition a digital technology. So Materialise has been a digital company from the start. And still, 32 years after its foundation, Materialise is still investing substantially in re-digitising what already existed, and in digitising what has not yet been digitised. CIO Eddy Crits will explain how an ever-changing IT world forces digital companies to reinvent themselves again and again.
  • 18:45: A digital company with a mission to help other companies digitise - Bart Van Der Scheuren (CTO & Executive VP Software): Materialise has a rather unique business model in which it combines in-house knowledge of 3D printing with the development of software products to innovate the 3D printing space. During this presentation lecture, CTO Bart Van Der Schueren will give some examples of how Materialise, in co-creation with 3rd parties, developed innovative business models and products.
  • 19:30: All about the cloud: Interactive session: How do you look at the cloud? During an interactive 15-minute session, we want to discuss how you - and your company - look at the cloud. Which business aspects do you trust in the cloud and which business aspects would you rather keep out of the cloud? Do you trust a multitenant public cloud? Or are you rather a fan of a self-managed cloud or even an on-premise deployment?
  • 19:45: Networking & walking dinner
